“Everyone needs this whether they know it or not."

Imagine taking a job and being told you are not doing well. It would be a healthy response to ask yourself what you need to do differently. But let's add some context. You were only provided with a vague job title, no job description, no training and still expected to succeed - it's ludicrous! And yet, this is exactly how we approach life.

We have these vague titles like employee, spouse, parent, partner, friend, family and even self. We graduate high school around 18 years old - before our brains are even fully formed! - and told to go be "happy, healthy, and successful". These are not easy endeavors!

These goals are made significantly harder because our systems do not teach us life skills necessary to live meaningful, fulfilling and satisfying lives. We are not armed with the necessary social, emotional, or coping skills required.
As a result of this lack of preparation, we experience stress, anxiety, loneliness, overwhelm, unhappiness, relationship strife, and overall struggle. We often think something is wrong with us. The primary contribution to your current problems is that you have not been taught effective coping tools needed to manage what you are facing.

Intellectually we know that every human being on the face of this planet is unique. Because of our individuality, our coping tools have to be customized to our unique selves to be effective. Further, these tools may need to change over time as we grow and develop.
